Currently it is the understanding of the aldermen board and of the city legal attorney that parking in the streets is illegal. The former codes director believe it was legal per the wording of the ordinance. To clarify the ordinance Alderman Broeker purposed changing the language so that its more clear that it is illegal. With the Mayor out due to medical reasons Alderman Broeker and Vice-Mayor Farmer voted to change such language. Aldermen Green and Waldron vote against such a measure to clarify the language. Publicly, neither have addressed this vote via Facebook, Twitter or their respected websites for those that do.
Why either would want language that could be perceived as inconsistent is not known to me. We do call on either of these two Aldermen to address publicly why they support language in a bill that is not clear.
